10 Tips for a Rad Boudoir Session

Be comfortable - Be comfortable in your own body. You’re not the first client to possibly be nervous, and you probably won’t be the last. My job is to help you relax and enjoy your session. Unless you have previous modeling experience, this will be a daring new experience, but that is part of the fun! If at any point you feel uncomfortable, let me know, we will shake it off.

Be on time - Get there on time. Nothing is worse than stress, and trust me, it’ll be written all over your face when you show up to your session sweaty and out of breath after running to get here. Give yourself plenty of time.

Before the session - Wear loose clothing to the shoot. The last thing you want are sports bra lines or a waist band line from your jeans. I suggest wearing a sundress with a zipper (you’ll read why in just a second) to your session to avoid any unwanted lines from tight clothing.

Watch the hair -If you are doing your hair and makeup before the session, which I highly recommend, wear a sundress with a zipper so that it can easily slide down instead of over your head and possibly ruining your gorgeous hair and makeup.

What do I wear - Bring three outfit options. I suggest solid colors such as black, tan, white, soft pink, or soft blue. These colors look amazing on every skin tone. As always wear something you feel confident in! This can be your partner's favorite shirt, a jersey, a hoodie, a sweater, lingerie, or even sweat pants and a sports bra. If you are unsure what type of lingerie would look best on your body type shoot me a message. I have a page written about all body types. But, of course, you shouldn’t feel restricted by what society thinks would look best. We don’t body shame here.

Deodorant- Wear gel deodorant. I feel like this is one thing most people don’t think of. The chalky white stuff is not a cute look, trust me.

Let’s dance- Play music during your shoot. My playlist or yours? I have a speaker that I bring to all sessions. Don’t forget your charger or aux cord though! If you choose my playlist be prepared to jam to artists like Lizzo, Halsey, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Kesha. All the girl power.

It’s something personal - Bring personal props. Have a fuzzy pillow or blanket you love? Maybe you have a hobby you would like to showcase? Maybe you collect old records? Maybe a favorite book? Make the session personal!

Hairties - Oh no, hair ties! More often than not we, without thinking, throw a hair tie on our wrist. Not only will it create a line on your wrist but sometimes I don’t notice them during the shoot. It takes longer for me to edit them out of each image and ultimately it takes longer for you to get your images.

Why - This is about you, for you. Boudoir is an incredibly empowering and very fun experience. Whatever your reason is for having this session enjoy it and own it. Share your thoughts, opinions, and reasons with me, I always have an open ear.
